Haven't try liveDVD Ubuntu/Kubuntu 8 yet. I'm no longer using Ubuntu. I will provide feedback once I have the opportunity to test them.

I'm now on Gentoo (no problem encountered so far with my DC7700).

I have DC7700 with 8400GS PCIe card.

During installation or liveDVD Ubuntu/Kubuntu 8 booting, it always hangs on the Xwindow screen with wallpaper and mouse cursor, regardless what parameters I put in (noapic nolapic pci=noacpi acpi=off or pci=conf1).

So far yang kami telah test, Ubuntu 7.04 boleh terus install tanpa masalah. Tidak perlu letak custom parameter tersebut.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=336283

Our PCs are already bios version v01.09 off the shelf.

Yep, we have several dc7700 pc installed with Feisty Fawn 7.04 (beta) without using any additional parameters. We are using the 32bit version and yet to test the 64bit. Anyway could your provide more info

1) Have you tried using Edgy Eft using full CD installer?

2) Have you tried using Edgy Eft using minimal boot cd? http://www.ridinglinux.org/2007/03/31/installing-ubuntu-edgy-eft-over-network-using-minimal-install-cd/

3) Is there any message prior to freezing.

Admin, Donpicoro,

Are you sure about Feisty Fawn? I could not even get the CD to boot at all. Also these parameters don't seem to work for me. I see the loading dialog but it freezes at 4% and stops there. I'm desperate to get this dc7700 working with Linux: nothing else is really an option for me at this point.

Nice job.. BTW I believe HP DC7700 support has been included on kernel 2.6.19. Eg: Installation for Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) running smoothly without needing to put extra kernel parameters.
